German Spoon - Maker's Mark?

Post by carling »

Can identify the maker of this 800 Waterloo / Napoleon silver spoon? It is marked DÉPOSÉ (no doubt the design was registered in Belgium or France). It is also marked with the German crescent and crown marks. The maker's mark looks like the intertwined letters H and S.

Hello, checked all my sources for German marks - no match, sorry. The "depose" was also used on pieces for the German market, it does not necessarily suggest this was meant for a French speaking market or registered there. Best wishes, Bahner

Thanks for your reply, Bahner. Another mystery mark eh? I assumed - perhaps wrongly - given the theme of the spoon it might have been registered in France or Belgium.

A post that's worth a bump.

Any new thoughts on this one?
