3 soup ladles Munich 1841-1862 need help!

Post by naina1st »

Dear experts,
As you might see, all 3 ladles have similar marks - Munich mark with year numbers and name in rectangular frame and have no fineness mark.
I would like to try your knowledge to get the answer to the following questions.
1. How the city mark relates to the fineness of the silver?
2. What do the names Hoeldrich, M.Wimmer, Nick Hendey mean? Makers or may be retailers?

Many thanks for your help.

The Munich mark guaranteed a fineness of 13 löt (.813). The makers are:

HOELDRICH = Mathias Höldrich (1793-1876); Master 1821, retired 1846
M.WIMMER = Michael Wimmer, Sr. (1805-1862); Master 1829
NICKHENDY = Joseph Nickendey/Nickhendy, Jr. (1818-1866); Master 1850

Hope this helps!

Hi naina1st,

In future posts, please restrict your requests to one item per thread, as per the Posting Requirements , as should anyone wish to extend the information on one or more of these silversmiths, it does tend to become confusing.
