Altenburg?

Post by moonshine »

Hello All. Am I correct that this spoon is from Altenburg, the hand mark, and if so, is the B the maker's mark?
As far as the style goes, would it be a fancy-back dognose style spoon?
It was fairly bent where stem meets handle, but straightened out nice.
Any information is appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Hello moonshine,
I think it is the city Schwäbisch Hall.

Kind regards, Ringo

yes- it is Schwäbich Hall.
Is the engraving 1767?
There are some some makers with name B... in this time.

Thank you both. The engraving is 1767, but I was told the spoon is earlier based on the style which was most common early 18th century, but perhaps was used longer in Germany. Thanks again.
