Help with Sugar Scoop (?) please

Post by emptguy »

Hello forum,

I bought what I believe is a sugar scoop a few days ago. I would be grateful if anyone out there could both confirm that's what it is and also help me with a makers name and/or manufacturing date. I am posting here as the name on the stem does suggest it may be German.

It's length is approximately 12.7 cm.

Thank you very much.

Hi Ian,

Yes, it's German, see: http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884.html

Ges. Geschützt indicates a design copyright.

Hopefully another member can identify the maker.

Thank you both.

looking closer under a loupe, yes it probably is Zwernemann. I can now see it is a crescent followed by a crown and after the '800' a six pointed star with the edge of what is probably a Z inside. Sadly the letter isn't very well defined.

That really is excellent help, thank you both again.
