A crying shame as contact rust from outside has deposited onto the surfaces. (Some wipes off, so it probably did not originate at the underlying base.) Is the L&W handle original or mated? Does the handle design match a known pattern? It is fixed in place, but should it be at this offset angle for a specialty reason? Is it a hopeless case now?

Cake slice is supposed to be at that angle.The problem here is disproportion at the joint, the handle being of smaller diameter and not well fixed with rosin (colophony) but it is easy to fix in hot water.
Unless we see exactly the same pattern by Lutz and Weiss we will never know if it`s genuine.
But it`s nice Jugendstil anyway.
