I have what I think is a Königsberg ladle. It has the capital E date stamp and engraved AP d Mai 1851 or 1857. The makers mark is badly rubbed but I was wondering if anyone might be able to work it out from what is there.
Thanks

Hi,
Königsberg, Prussia. This form of mark was used 1830 - 1860.
I think it was made earlier than the engraved year because letter P was used for 1857.
A in 19th century started in 1818 and E was used in 1822
The next cycle with letter A started in 1843

Regards

Makersmark looks like [IAK]
Johann Andreas Koschinski (Scheffler Königsberg no407c), born in Tilsit 1779,
ca 1801 master in Tilsit,
oo 19.11.1813 in Königsberg.

Is it possible for a maker to mark his stamp one year , but be assayed a couple of years later, after he has died
