Lion English - X300 and Canon Unsure - HELP IS APPRECIATED

Post by kenscott »

Hello Everyone,

I obtained a nice sterling shell type dish for free, and it has multiple hallmarks
on it. The STERLING is self-explanatory, and I am pretty sure the lion means it is English.

Unsure of the first symbol, the x300, and the canon. All help is appreciated.

No, not English at all. We use a completely different lion and almost never the word "sterling".

Check out Reed & Barton at http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_R2.html and http://www.925-1000.com/RB_Date_Code.html. The latter link shows that the cannon is Reed & Barton's date code for 1940.
