unknown lighter

can anyone help with origin of this petrol lighter please? the casing part tests for silver

Item made for or handled by a large Dutch steamship company--Koninklijke Nederlanse Stoomboot-Maatschappij 1856-1981. Can not give you more on MX or maker (look for other marks). Dutch date codes list can be accessed at the page heading for "World Marks".

i have found 830 stamped on side of casing

Yes, silver petrol lighter circa 1940. Fineness 830/1000 and below official Dutch silver standard, hence the absence of Dutch hallmarks.
