Import mark?

Post by orthogonal »

I bought an Austrian shaker from a dealer in Argentina. It's marked "Vienna, 1826, Stephan Mayerhofer". And then there is the tiniest additional hallmark. Some sort of insect. Any idea what that is?

Silver is such a great topic! I would have never guessed Czechoslovakia. Now I know quite a bit more about the history of that piece. Thank you!
