mystry silver box research

Post by sankachandima »

My mother in law has a old silver box she inherited from her grand parents. But has no hallmarks. We want to know if any one can recognize the style and the features in the box to identify its origins, makers, or origin.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

You are far more likely to get responses if you embed your images as very few people will click on thumbnails or links.

Hi,
Art Nouveau style, around 1900, most likely German, although the style was popular throughout Europe (Jugendstil, Vienna Secession)
The décor is very reminiscent of Darmstadt Artists' Colony. Albin Müller, vereinigte Silberwarenfabriken Düsseldorf made silver boxes of similar form and floral wavy décor.
Google with these keywords
Darmstädter Jugendstil Zuckerdose.
Without any marks only approximate attribution can be given.
