Help identify silverware manufacturer?

Post by siper »

Hi there,
My family has a full set of this silverware and we have no idea about its origin. This is the only stamp I could find on any of the pieces (this is a fork).
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Well done with the images.

The mark you are showing is the engraved initials of a former owner. Are there no marks on the back of the handle?

None. I didn't check every piece in the set though. I take a look next time I'm at my Dad's house.

Looks like Gorham's Fairfax pattern. Here's a link to Gorham trademarks on this site: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_G3.html

On second thought your set could have the Durgin mark. Both companies produced the pattern. Durgin was first. Here's a link to the Durgin trademark: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_D2.html
