Hello “Magicbradford”, you are not the only forum member wondering who were “Anwar & Co”. Info is in short supply. “Cagne” asked about an “Anwar” mark on a spoon in 2016, and the reference for the images is below.

The date for that item was 1941 but there was extra marking, notably, a “broad arrow” mark indicating the item was made for a British Government contract and with a “C” in front of it. In early 2018 I referenced a very similar “mark” image.

The “C” indicates that “Anwar & Co” made cutlery for the “Canadian Army”. Now was “Anwar“ based in Canada to make items for the British Government or were they based in Britain. Where did your cruet set turn up? It is interesting to note we have close dates, 1940 and 1941, for the items and they date from the start of WWII. Is it possible that for security reasons, “Anwar“, was in fact a coded name for a then well known concern? And possibly we will never know, or forum, will we?
