Hello
Another Gold Maker/sponsor to identify please, this time on a substantial 18ct London 1870 Ring, apologies for the poor photograph but the maker's mark appears to be "W&A.M." in a rectangle. Any known history on the maker?
Regards
Simon

Re: London Gold Mark - identify maker - "W&A.M."
Hello Simon,
The standard reference book for London makers after 1838 is Volume II of The Directory Of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Traders 1838-1914 written by John Culme.
Unfortunately no mention is made there of anyone registering a mark W & AM for use in 1870.

Re: London Gold Mark - identify maker - "W&A.M."
An update: A complete Faux pas on my behalf - I have mistaken the 1870 date letter where it is actually a lowercase "p" for 1930. I contacted the Goldsmiths Company in London and they were very helpful in pointing me in the direction of W&A Mussett who registered the mark in 1921. Would anyone have any further information on this maker?
Thanks
