Help with the Hallmark

Post by rpgr »

I would greatly appreciate the help with the following hallmark. I think that the ring was attached to the Russian made order of St Vladimir later in Western Europe, possibly France. The order was made between 1821 and 1836.
Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Can you try and capture a larger, sharper close-up of the marks? Take the image in diffused daylight, no flash, using the macro feature on your camera.

Hi rpgr,

Thank you for posting the new images.

To me, this appears to be a Dutch import mark (a boar's head erased facing right) that was used on small objects of precious metal during the period 1831-1893:

I'll try and post an image of the printed mark a little later.

Hello, it does look like it. I only managed to find a drawing of it, if you have a photo of it and can post it, that would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

For more information and image see Dutch duty marks:

Could you please show us an image of the complete order of St Vladimir? Thanks.

Oel.
