HELP IDENTIFYING ITEM & HALLMARK

Post by Steve7082 »

Hey Everyone,

I found this piece and I have NO IDEA what it is or who the artist is. It is 4" long and has pins that stick out on each end. I believe it's Navajo, but I don't recognize the artist..."AB". Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That could be Bahe Louise, Navajo Tribe. I know it (the initials) appears a bit different but it's possible she changed them at some point. Here's a link.

And also, it looks like a barrette and the clasp is broken.

It appears to be a cheek-plate for a bridle. The broken wires would have gone through the leather and been curled to secure them. I have made and repaired many like this over the years.

I believe the hallmark for this corresponds to Alex Begay.

I'm going with Barrett and Anna Begay.
