Ambassador Hotel New York Ladle

Post by Traintime »

We're bending the rules here as there are no maker marks nor standards indicators with which to work. After a fruitless search for this "A" monogram to link to an Ambassador New York (notice it does not say Hotel), several months wait time finally yielded a gatefold bar menu alleged to be for room service. Inside codes suggest 1956. This version of the "A" was contained in the center of their standard shield logo, replacing the letter they had used from the earliest days. The heavy ladle seems to have been formed for a very large punch sized bowl. And of course there's no guantee the handle design matches any known flatware patterns. Photos in 2 sets.

Thanks to a single spoon listing, we now know International Silver Co. (Banquet Plate-B.P.)...leaving only about 13 million patterns in 400 plants to search...ha!
