Articulated Fish

Post by garyrnorth »

Hello,
Thanks for allowing this Ohioan to join your group.
I have found an articulated sterling Fish. I have online found that apparently they were used
as spice storage boxes. The entire head swings open with a small compartment inside. Each scale is hand chased along with all of the fins and tail.
This one is a whopping 16 1/4 inches long and roughly 23.79 ounces in weight....and it wiggles
This is the closest category I could post in. Hopefully the moderator will place it in the proper category
I would like to identify the makers mark, the only mark on this piece and possibly the age.The mark is on the underside.

It is difficult for me to see any hallmark in the second picture.

I would also love to know who made this fish. It is really an amazing object.

Hopefully there are marks on the fish that someone will recognize.
