What-is-it question CCIII
A silverplated item from 1906, just the sort of thing you would find rolling about in the back of an old cutlery drawer:
Probably around 2½" (6cm) in length.
What is it?

Re: What-is-it question CCIII
Hi JL,
No, nothing so exotic, much more a utilitarian item.

Re: What-is-it question CCIII
Hi Oel,
No, not a towel hanger. This is more food orientated and designed to prevent a widespread nuisance.

Re: What-is-it question CCIII
Would it hold a block of cheese?
Re: What-is-it question CCIII
Hi Silverly,
No, it does not hold something as such (well, kinda does, but not in a long-term storage way). It's use is to prevent something happening.
I added this one to the mystery items because, as mentioned in the opening post, it is just the sort of thing found at the back of an old cutlery drawer, and its use would probably be unknown.

Hi Jörg,
That's close enough!
The 'Puritan' tea pot strainer was imported into the United States by G.M. Thurnauer of 35-37, Park Place, New York.
