I thought I would post some images of this truely wonderful Nathanil Mills example.

Hallmarked from Birmingham in 1836, it retains its gilt to interior and around 98% of the exterior gilt finish remains intact.

I believe the building or castle top is that of Newstead Abbey, however there appears to be variations on this work as it appears to be more commonly seen with swans in the lake at front of Abbey and also the clock in clock tower is a lozenge shape where as some examples show this as circular.

What is the castle on my castle-top???

Post by EmmaW »

I have a Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, 1848 castle-top vinaigrette and I have scoured the internet trying to find out the location depicted but with no luck. I'd be really grateful if anyone has any pointers...

Thanks

Emma
