William Johnson & Sons entered their marks, 'W.J&S' with the London Assay Office on the 25th April 1903 and 2nd March 1914.

The partners in the business in 1903 were Peter Thomas Johnson, William Alfred Johnson, and Arthur Frank Johnson. In 1914 it was William Alfred Johnson, and Arthur Frank Johnson.

John Cuisset was recorded in 1835 as a wholesale jeweller at 38, Blackfriars Road, Surrey, In 1836 as a jeweller at 36, Blackfriars Road, Surrey, and from 1838 to 1846 as a silversmith and jeweller at 40, Blackfriars Road. As can be seen from the below notice, he suffered bankruptcy in 1842. He was noted as trading from 3, Crown Row, Walworth Road, Surrey in 1847 until at least 1849.

JOHN HERMAN MERIVALE, Esq. one of Her Majesty's Commissioners authorised to act under a Fiat in Bankruptcy awarded and issued forth against John Cuisset of Blackfriars-road, in the parish of Christchurch, in the county of Surrey, Jeweller, Dealer and Chapman, will sit on the 29th day of March instant, at one in the afternoon precisely, at the Court of Bankruptcy, in Basinghall-street, in the city of London (by adjournment from the 8th day of March instant), in order to take the Last Examination of the said bankrupt; when and where be is required to surrender himself, and make a full discovery and disclosure of his estate and effects, and finish his examination and the creditors who have not already proved their debts, are to come prepared to prove the same, and, with these who have already proved their debts, are to assent to or dissent from the allowance of his certificate.

Mark Munson specialises in the manufacture and restoration of ecclesiastical and ceremonial silverware.

He served his apprentice under Blunt & Wray, St. Johns Street, Clerkenwell, London, as from 1973.

His business was established in 1978 and he became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in 1989.

R., L. & M. Friedlander, 30 Maiden Lane, New York, have opened a European office at 97 Hatton Garden, London, England, where all foreign communications should be addressed. R. Friedlander, of the firm, who has been in Europe for some weeks, has made extensive purchases of diamonds and other precious stones, which the firm will offer to the trade at very reasonable prices.

STEWARD

On the night of the 24th of February the shop of Mr. Steward, in High Street, Islington, was broken into and plundered of 40 gold watches, 50 silver ditto, 9 gold armlets, 220 gold signet and ladies' rings, 150 gold and plated scarf pins, 150 wedding rings and keepers, 90 gold seals and keys, 20 gold necklets and chatelaines, and a quantity of gold and silver pencil cases, &c., of the value of 1000l.
