Last week the Chicago papers carried a message from "over there" that tells a great story in a few words. Concerning him the cablegram said "Decorated August 12 by King George for conspicuous gallantry, capturing enemy sniping position, taking eight German prisoners."

A Terrific Boiler Explosion in R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co.s Factory
Wallingford, Conn., Nov. 11.—Three of the big boilers in the engine room at the factories of R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. exploded yesterday forenoon with terrific force. Parts of one of the boilers were blown far from the building. Parts of the roof of the engine building were torn off. Fortunately none of the men were near the boilers at the time of the accident, a Frenchman, who was badly scalded, being the only person injured.
The accident was caused by the blowing off of a patch put on one of the boilers about a year ago, after it had been in use about 14 years. It is thought the damage can be so repaired as to be able to start up the factory Monday. The company are very badly in need of it to fill orders. The boilers were insured for $25,000.
