An enterprising firm in London has reminded us of an ancient institution connected with the press. Their letter is addressed thus : "Father of the Chapel, Cootamundra ' Herald ' Office, Cootamundra, New South Wales." The chapel was a mutual club; and this firm, J. W. Benson, Ltd., 62 and
64, Ludgate Hill, London, has adopted the idea and send out rules of conducting such chapels or clubs to enable the members to purchase on a deferred payment system the watches, clocks, &c., of the London firm. They wish us to act as agents for them, or to find somebody else who will do so. It is not in our line; but we must compliment the house of Benson in being cute in business.

Festivities in the Trade.— On Saturday evening, March 4th, the annual dinner of the principal employes of the firm of J. W. Benson was held at the St. James's Restaurant, Mr. Liddell, Old Bond-street, occupying the chair, and Mr. Gould, Ludgate-hill, the vice-chair. The repast was sumptuous, well-served, and appreciated, and the wines were as good in quality as diverse in kind. All kinds of good things were said of the individual members of the firm and the toast to their health drank with musical honors. Some excellent vocal and instrumental music, by members of the staff, occupied the rest of the evening, which all agreed was one of the most pleasant in their lives.
