Interesting link to an Australian Broadcasting Corporation story regarding the silverware collection of Captain William Lonsdale, one of the founders of Melbourne, that his family are parting company with after an amazing 176 years:

Although unfortunately unlikely, it would be great if this wonderful collection remained intact and in the hands of an Australian public institution for all the world to see.

The soup tureen from the Lonsdale Silver collection shown in the above report was made by William Ker Reid, London,1841, and the three branch candelabra epergne by Robinson, Edkins & Aston, Birmingham, c.1835.

The collection will be exhibited in Sydney, 11‐14 October 2018, 10 am to 5 pm, 30 Queen Street, Woollahra, and at Melbourne, 18‐24 October 2018, 10 am to 5 pm, 14‐16 Collins Street, Melbourne.
