A treasure house of history in Dumfries and Galloway telling the story of the land and people of the region. The Camera Obscura, installed in the windmill tower in 1836, is the oldest working instrument in the world. The museum has items of Scottish silver, including the teapot, knife and fork used by Charles Edward Stewart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) and items of Dumfries silver.


Opening hours: April to September: Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 2pm - 5pm / October to March: Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 1pm, 2pm - 5pm

Admission: Free
