Moscow Assayed Spoon

Post by dognose »

Hi,

As usual, Russian marks confuse me!

Can someone be kind enough to interpret them for me?

Any thoughts appreciated.

No thought but facts my good man. The spoon is made in Moscow as you anticipated. The maker is НП (Latin NP) id est Nikolay Pavlovich Pavlov 1885-1917. The spoon is later remarked 1954-58 by the Soviet assay office in Tallinn (Estonia) (H). You are not mentioning its size. If it is of the size of a tea spoon, it is a tea spoon ;-))), if it is a bit bigger, it is a jam spoon and if it is even bigger (20cm/8"), it is a serving spoon.

Hi Qrt.S,

Thank you for the detailed explanation. The spoon belongs to a friend who sent me the images. I'll pass the information on to him.

Thanks again.
