we all know the usual Russian salt vessels (bowls and thrones) in different versions, materials and qualities. But a salt shaker is new to me.

Indeed an unusual Russian salt caster. I have not either seen a similar before. Congratulations for a nice find. However, you could have polish it before taking the pictures.
