Danish (?) Kettle

Post by huszas76 »

Dear Forum members!
Another day, another question. Can anyone identify the origin, the fineness, and the maker of this. Something suggest me, it's from the north, maybe Danmark, but any other oppinion welcome!

This are the marks. The maker is "JJJ", but I don't know similar city mark, and I don't know, what means the "24"

The marks are in the bottom, next to the engraving.
The engraving: F. C. Heinrichsen, Oct. 16, 1848.
Any help appreciate!
Best regards!

I give you my best shot:
The maker JJJ is possibly Jürgen Joachim Jürgensen from Sønderborg in Denmark. He was born ~1779 and marked 1807-1837. The town mark is the town gate (for Sønderborg?) but not Copenhangen's three towers. Number 24 is the fineness. In the old days the Danes used a special system for expressing the fineness in lot. For the moment I cannot find where I have my notes about it, sorry. I'm quite sure that Hose will drop in and correct me or fill in the blanks....I hope :-))))

I would like to resurrect this old thread - can anyone post a link or a reference that describes this old danish system expressing the fineness in lot? Thank you

There's also this old thread on World Silver Standards with a detailed list for Denmark at the end: http://925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... F2+denmark
