Danish Teapot Kreiberg

Post by joho »

Hi All - This appears to be a Danish silver teapot dating 1888. But is it a teapot? Its wooden handle is at right angles to the spout and there is a removeable silver strainer which fits into the pot. Would be grateful for any information about it and the maker Kreiberg. Many thanks Joho.

Hi All - many thanks for the replies. Hose, it seems that the date of the teapot is earlier than the dates mentioned for Kreiberg in your link. Could there have been an earlier Kreiberg? Also, I see they were working in a town called Nykobing but also that there are a number of towns called Nykobing in Denmark. Do you know which Nykobing they were working in? Best regards Thanks John

1893 is the date of start of registre. Many 1893 started earlier.
Kreiberg was born 1815 in Varde.
Educated in Copenhagen 1836.
Working as svend (employed) in Nykøbing Falster approx 1840. Working as svend - he har no own mark but used his employers mark.
Get married in 1845
Gets citienship in 1856 dies 1879.

Henrik Peter Krejberg

The text is related to a scollarship that he starts with a capital of 8000kr - approx 1000 euro. The capital must not be used only interest. There is text about who can bennefit.
This practice was common way of leaving your proberty. To be remembered after life.

Hi Hose,

Many thanks for explaining the document. Considering the date, he must have died a wealthy man.

Many thanks Hose. It seems there were a number of Kreibergs working in Nykobing from early 19th century. John
