We are Americans who have lived and worked in the UK intermittently and have collected antiques and art for many years. This poor caudle cup was to be melted down when we discovered it and purchased it for the silver value from one of the vendors at 113 Portobello Road, Notting Hill a number of years ago. I shined the cup up and have tried without resolution to discern its makers mark. Can anyone help? We thought it might possibly be William Shaw II and William Priest, circa 1749 but we could not figure out the date mark either. Thank you in advance for any advice.
Ugh, I guess I am not able to understand how to upload the images I have... ..... too bad, this looks like a good forum...
