The marks on this Georgian sauce boat are so worn that I don't even know if the photo is right side up or not. Still, if someone recognizes even the first mark in the row that will be a start. I've looked at hundreds of Georgian sauce boats on line and haven't found one that is exactly like it. Thanks, Laurie.

Hi Laurie,

Good job with the images and a very nice item.

It would be good to read the thoughts of others, but it appears to be John Pollock, London 1754.

Hi Guys,

Closely examining all the marks, they corroborate each other ie the London 't' of 1754, correct cartouche for the leopards head and lion respectively. The "P" initial in the makers mark is very distinctive and what can be seen of the first letter indeed matches with the expected "J" for John Pollock.

So, in my humble opinion, I'd say Trev nailed it with John Pollock, London, 1754.

Cheers,
Steve

Hello. Me again. I've been researching sauce boats on line and see that they almost always come in pairs. Does anyone know why? I haven't been able to find the answer to this question.

Hi,
Table set ``Service à la Française`` (all dishes served at the same time).
Two sauce boats are shown with red arrows.
Let`s have in mind they did not eat delivered pizza slices and Chinese takeaway.
Regards

Oh! Hadn't heard of this before. All my dinner parties are in English (ha ha). Thanks.
