Small pitcher I believe to be Dutch

Postby Biju » Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:26 am

Dear Experts:

Would appreciate if you can validate that this is indeed Dutch? From my deciphering, I am at a 1868 dating - agree?
Any ideas on the maker?

Thank you all so much,
Biju

Hi Biju, welcome to the forum.
Indeed little Dutch pitcher. I believe the maker's mark could read AB above 34 for: Ate de Groot Boersma Gz., registered in the city of Sneek province of Friesland, 1866-1909 and this particular mark registered 1875-1909. Regarding year could be a "smudged" K for 1894, not sure. Dutch Lion passant 2 with export key, 2nd standard mark for silver 0.833, used 1814-1953.
For Dutch (hall)marks see:
