Post by Roberto »

Hi, I'm new here (and french, sorry for my english).

A friend just gave me that bookmark without knowing his origin.

After some research I identified some hallmarks (tell me if i'm wrong) :

Image

Maker's mark : SM &Co (Sampson Mordan and Co)
Silver mark : Lion passant (sterling silver 925)
City mark : Chester
Date letter : K for year 1910 .

There is a last mark I cannot identify : a kind of fir with the letters MA.
I don't think is a duty or import mark.
Anyone got an idea ?
Thanks you.

Hi Roberto,

Welcome to the Forum.

That's interesting, it's not the first time we have come across that mark, see: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 25&p=72766

Both items were assayed in 1910.

Hopefully someone has an answer.

Trev.

And to add I never did find who the maker / importer of the salt spoon was in the linked thread Trev mentions.
