Teaspoon with maker FP over BG

Post by Granmaa »

Here is a Old English Pattern teaspoon by FP over BG. Does anyone know this partnership? The workmanship is quite crude. Judging by the hallmarks, I'd say it was assayed in Exeter round 1810.

Francis Parsons and Stephen Crees of Exeter, worked together from 1797 - 1800, this mark has also been found in Exeter silver for partnership of the same Francis Parsons and a member of the Goss family of silversmiths, both these marks originally noted without accompanying Exeter Hallmark

Thankyou for that, Nigel.

I've heard of Joseph Goss and a D. Goss but never of a B. Goss; I assumed it must stand for Benjamin, but the internet yields nothing for this name. Does anyone know who B. Goss is?
