Hi all,

I don't have the book on early West Country spoons, so was just wondering if there is a maker attached to this mark? It is on a trefid spoon, struck once in the bowl and three times along the stem. It has a pricked date of 1679.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

The mark is an early Exeter town mark and attributing a maker would be difficult. The closest I could find using a similar device was possibly Daniel Slade. Offering only as a route for further research.

Thanks Trev! I wasn't sure how many of these early Exeter marks had attributions. Will see how I go!
