Colonial hallmarks? R IK B on salt ladle

Post by user701 »

I am not sure if the marks on this salt ladle are colonial or from somewhere else, any help would be appreciated.

I have already done some searching but didn't come up with anything, it would just be nice to know where this piece has come from.

The marks are R IK B

Marks in photo below.

Hi User,

Provincial, rather than colonial, John Keith of Banff.

Forgot to add, I originally thought this might be Scottish provincial, but was unsure after I checked my little book that has minor guild marks in. Glad my initial thought were correct.

Yes, it's amazing how you build a gut feeling as to the origins of some marks.

It is, I should have stuck to my original instinct and carries on searching, I am sure I would have come across it still.
