Hi
I would be most grateful for someone to cast an expert eye over this hallmark. It is on a small 4" long condiment/mustard style spoon. It does not have an assay office mark. Is it still classed as silver without this mark or am I just being stupid. Also anything on the manufacturer would be helpful.

Hi,
The maker is Thomas Dene, London. Of course, it`s sterling silver.

Hi,
Confirming the year is 1802 which is too late for Thomas Dene. It works in perfectly however for Thomas Dicks. If you look at both maker marks, they are practically identical. You can find them here:

Many thanks for the replies and for helping with the image. I'm still not sure as to the reason why there is no London Mark.

Hi,
The city mark was omitted on small items at the time to prevent marks being transposed onto larger objects.
Duty paid for a spoon, get back to the workshop and transpose marks to whatever much heavier object.
