Help with crest please

Post by jacksonsvl19l »

Hello. I would appreciate some help with this crest.
It is on a silver piece from London, made 1810.
I've done some research online, and the closest I've found are that of the family Moriarty, and of clan Munro.
I appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

Stangely similar to the maker mark for Mayo & Co. Chicago, Illinois (1896-c.pre 1904?). Could it relate to the Mayo name?

The crest is an eagle displayed. It could also be blazoned as an eagle with wings displayed and elevated. Eagles are popular and this can be found as a crest for one of the branches of the Moseley family, and one of the Williams family, and quite a few branches of the Browne family. There may be others. I don't think I could state exactly who this is for. Kind regards.
