The whole point of joining this site was so that I could post some attachments of hallmarks on a couple of extremely old pieces that I have. Do I really need to upload them first to another site and then put links in my post to see the images? Maybe it's because I'm a new user that this is restricted, but it's definitely inconvenient if this is the case.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

No, there is no 'new user' restriction.

The below should help you:

How to Add Images

Posting Requirements

https://postimages.org (copy the 'Hotlink for forums' code) is recommended.

Ensure your images are embedded. Do not post links. Remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post.

For more information see:

Give some time to creating your posts and we'll give some time to researching and answering them.

Trev.

Hi,
This is another excellent site for uploading images (for German speakers).
https://abload.de/
When the image is uploaded you just copy-paste the direct link to this forum (Direktlink für Foren).
Sometimes we spend hours searching for mystery marks, the only reward being solving the issue.
In a word, it`s worth trying if you want your marks identified.

When I had to figure it out, the techno-jibberish logs were of no help. Once I started pushing all the buttons like kids do, it became easier than pouring a cup of coffee (constant changes in technology at the host sites can be a minor irritant). You'll find it to be a useful tool (we could use more sites with image posting). In the meantime, cus and scream at the box as much as you want until the student surpasses the master...just keep pushing the buttons.
