Pair of sterling silver salt cellars, late 19th century, Louis XVI style, Christofle

Pair of antique French sterling silver salt cellars, Louis XVI style, late 19th century production.
Elegantly decorated with flower garlands, ribs and ribbons. The original spoons are sterling silver and vermeil, without any monogram. The blue cobalt crystal glasses are original as well.

Each piece has French hallmark Minerva 1st standard (.950 purity silver) and silversmith Charles Christofle mark stamped.

The mark (CC, 3 stars and a bee) was entered at the garantie in Paris in 1832.

The vain hope that I had is now gone.
The Musée Bouilhet-Christofle is closed.
Many of these things now remain a mystery, or is Christofle not very transparent.

The sugar tong has two Minerva images, and also two Bigornes, how can a Makers Mark that is known but nowhere in the books to be found, be approved by the testing room ???
He must therefore be properly registered.

Nobody ever asked questions about it.
This makes such a piece extra rare and special.

To be continued
