BARRATT, James (Grimwade p.431-2)

Post by MCB »

He married Elizabeth Higgs at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1786; both were from that parish.
Christening records at St Andrew, Holborn in 1792 for James son and 1794 for Ann daughter of James and Elizabeth Barratt shows their address as Lincoln’s Inn.
Indentures were signed in 1805 for Joseph (Grimwade p.548) son of Joseph Hodgson, peruke maker of St John’s Court, St Martin le Grande and in 1814 for George son of Aaron Cockram deceased, cordwainer of St Giles without Cripplegate to be the apprentices of James Barratt, silversmith of Addle Street.
The Will of James Barratt silversmith of Addle Street was granted Probate on 22 April 1826
Reference: TNA PROB 11/1710/464.

8 September 1788 James Barratt of the Parish of Saint Mary Staining Batchelor married to Frances Marshall of the same Parish Spinster at Saint Michael Wood Street City of London. This is possibly a better match than Elizabeth because Frances is the name of James's spouse given in his will. There were no children mentioned in the will.
