He married Mary Ann Seaman, a minor, of St Leonard, Shoreditch parish at St Luke, Finsbury in 1827. A witness to the marriage was William Seaman (Grimwade p.654).
His involvement in the silver trade had come to an end by 1841 where the UK Census for Farringdon Street records him as secretary to an insurance society. His father and mother in law, William and Mary Seaman, were also resident and shown of independent means.
Mary Ann Brydie died in 1850.
The 1851 UK Census records him as a widower still at the same address and secretary to a benefit society. His in laws were also still resident with him, William Seaman being shown as a retired silversmith.
