BENNETT, Edward I (Grimwade p.438)

Post by MCB »

For the record the documents dealing with applications in 1755 and 1756 by his sons Peter John and Edward (Grimwade p.438) for freedom by patrimony in the Goldsmiths Company show their father obtained his own freedom in 1728 rather than 1727 as in Grimwade’s book.
Indentures were signed in 1740 by Edward, the son of William Harwell, a mariner of Jamaica “in parts beyond the seas”, to be his apprentice.
Apprentice indentures signed in 1756 by Samuel Jerman (Grimwade p.562, 755) to be the apprentice of Edward Bennett the Younger indicate that Edward Senior was still alive at that date.
