CRESWELL, Joseph (Grimwade p.479)

Post by MCB »

He married Mary Ann Kent of St Pancras at St George, Bloomsbury in 1762.
Their three children were christened at St Olave, Old Jewry from 1766-69 but the records provide no further information.
He is listed as a goldsmith from Greek Street in the 1780 London Poll Book.
The burial of a John Creswell aged 77, late of Long Acre, was recorded in 1816 at St Martin in the Fields.

31 January 1788 Alexander Hogg will codicil separately proved. This codicil was primarily to prescribe the manner that Joseph Creswell formerly of Greek Street Saint Ann Soho Goldsmith but late of Mortlake in the County of Surry running a boarding school was to repay a loan from Alexander Hogg made on 1 October 1785 of £352.

Alexander Hogg had a brother named Andrew Hogg who I suspect was the gentleman listed in Grimwade on p.548-9, 753. And coincidently one of the witnesses to Joseph Creswell's marriage to Mary Ann Kent was Alexander Hogg.
