JUSON, William (Grimwade p.566)

Post by MCB »

Although Heal recorded him there until 1714 as far as can be traced he was assessed to Land Tax at Foster Lane only until 1709. His neighbour was John East (Grimwade p.498).
He appears as William Jason, Broderer, in the apprentice indentures of John Masson in 1714 and is similarly listed in the 1722 London Poll Book.

Pat (Silverly) has a knack of uncovering website annotation errors. He has found that West Juson applied for freedom by patrimony in the Broderers Company in 1747 which was incorrectly entered as 1791 on the website used for research and consequently ignored as not relevant to the William Juson under investigation.
This discovery has resulted in other detail being found:
William Juson married Elizabeth West at St Giles, Cripplegate in 1704;
Their daughter Sarah was christened at St John Zachary in 1708;
An unnamed daughter was buried at St Giles, Cripplegate in 1711 and their son West christened there in 1714. Both records show William Juson as an Imbroiderer (sic).

25 January 1720 (OS) West son of William Juson Corn Chandler and Elizabeth birth recorded Saint Giles Cripplegate City of London.

4 August 1740 (OS) William Juson of the Parish of Saint Luke in the County of Middlesex Corn Chandler will proved at London. Reference TNA PROB 11; Piece: 704

Apparently, William Juson had left his former trade by 1720.
