SHEKLETON, John (Grimwade p.656-7)

As a widower he married the widow Elizabeth Groom at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1797.
He paid Duty in 1801 as a silversmith from Bell Savage Yard, Ludgate Hill for the apprentice indentures of William Martin and in 1803 as a silversmith from Old Bailey for the indentures of William Knight.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Prujean Court, St Martin, Ludgate from 1802-1810. Thomas Shekleton (Grimwade p.657) was assessed on the property from 1811.
His burial under the name John Shackleton aged 57 years was registered in 1810 at St Martin. Ludgate.
Also dated in 1810 an abstraction of the Will of John Shekleton, late widower of Prujean Court, is held in the National Archives under reference IR 26/386/223.
