Joseph Malpas, jeweller of St Vedast parish, Foster Lane signed a bond in 1742 to marry Amy Potter.
Trade directories from 1753-81 show him as a jeweller at 9 Wood Street.
He paid Duty as a freeman of the Haberdashers Company for the apprentice indentures of John Cowill in 1761 and John Mogg in 1764.
He was listed in Poll Books as a freeman of the Haberdashers in 1768 and in 1796, the latter showing a Chelsea address.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1770 as a small worker from Wood Street.
His burial in 1796 was registered at St Michael, Wood Street.
The Will of Joseph Malpas, late of St George, Hanover Square, was granted probate on 24th October 1796.
