SMITH, Benjamin III (Grimwade p.662)

In the Court of Bankruptcy on Monday week, the debts proved against the estate of Benjamin Smith, a copper-smelter and silversmith, in Threadneedle street and Lincoln's-inn fields, were proved to the amount of 42,000l and it is computed that the total amount will be about 160,000l. The assets are estimated at from 25,000l. lo 30,000l.

In the London Bankruptcy Court, on Tuesday last, a petition was opened against Benjamin Smith, described as a copper smelter, of Threadneedle-street and the Borough, and silversmith, of Duke-street, Lincoln's-inn. The liabilities are said to be near £200,000. A messenger has been despatched to Paris to take steps for obtaining possession of the property there, believed to he worth £15,000
