Hi,
These big candelabra's match in a way: same sort of form, same hight, same number of candles, etc. But they are not a pair. They come from different auctions in different periods. I already had one (provenance Christies Amsterdam) and then I met the other one at another auction (Vendu Rotterdam). One has a filled base, the other is not filled. One is somewhat better made than the other. It looks like they are both copies of the same (old?) candelabra. But in different periods and maybe different makers. These candelabra's are not old, but we enjoy them because it is a party when they function. Just joy. Who could the maker of these candelabra's be? Does anyone knows anything about the original? When was the original made? By whom?
Regards,
Zilverik
Portugese maker(s) of these big candelabra's?
Re: Portugese maker(s) of these big candelabra's?
If you can do it, I think it is helpful to describe a mark that is not completely clear. My eyes play tricks on me sometimes and optical allusions do crop up in images for me. I'm sure I will not be able to help you with your question, but I do admire these pieces.
I'm not sure if my redo of your mark will be an improvement, but it was worth a try:

Hi silverly,
Thank you you took the trouble to make the photo better. I spend quit some time to make a better photo. I hope someone can recognize the maker and the time.

Big difference in your new images. Hopefully that will get some good responses.

In case your images get edited for size, here's the mark.
I think my editing program causes some loss of resolution when an image is rotated.
I used tinypic and uploaded with message board size selected. They make it awfully easy once it has been done once or twice.

What an improvement Zilverik, bravo!
Portugal and Porto 1938-1984 and fineness 916/1000, but the maker is more difficult. I revert to this if I find something.

Hi all,
I figured it out on the internet. Indeed, sometimes you have to work on it yourself.
It is Topazio:
