Help with coin (money) silver spoons

Post by modemgirlz »

I am not sure where to post these, maybe other countries? Could someone please help me with these coin (money) silver spoons. I have more and the dates on the coins are 1845- 1849. 20 Patrona? Looks like the date on the spoon handle is 1858? I believe they are from Portugal, Spain or Italy? I am just guessing. I have included a few spoons, because some of the marks are rubbed off. I have also included some polished and some unpolished. I think you can read the unpolished coins better. I would like to know where they are from, maker and date made. Any information would help. If you would like me to write down all the writting on the coins, front and back I will. Thanks so much for your help.

Try google on patrona coin. I got a lot of hits indicating "patrona bavaria"

and this text "A new design for Hungarian coins was introduced in 1467 with the monetary reform of King Matthias Corvinus , the portrait of the Madonna and Child with the legend "PATRONA HVNGARIAE." This motif was found on Hungary's coins from then until 1939."

So perhaps you should look in that direction.

You also have the madonna and Jesus at the coin and REX meaning king. Frederic

The mark on the left with the numbers is an Austro Hungarian town mark (1858) for Kaschau.
