Hi, I'm new, first time posting, but have gotten a lot of help from this site identifying pieces from my father's collection.
If you know the marks on this piece, I would greatly appreciate help identifying the maker, thank you.

Here is my description:
Antique unusual Sterling silver letter opener with red glass around the handle, and a black and silver dot bead section as well. Not sure of the hallmark but it is marked 925. One side is engraved with Viking ships, so I'm guessing it's from Norway? Very attractive old and unique item.

Hi ~ welcome to the forums.

Can understand why you might think this piece is Scandinavian, but the boats are not Viking longships, they're more like Greek galleys (penteconters or triantaconters), the style and workmanship would also be atypical. Appears to have a bit of age, but would be surprised if it is old enough to be antique.

Perhaps it will have a better chance of identification in this forum...
